Clinical Liaison Practitioner
The main aspect of my role is to support community and inpatient services across the west midlands, to identify the patients requiring bed allocation based on risk and clinical need. As well as providing advice to medical teams when patients are requiring physical health treatment in relation to their eating disorder.
Additionally, we are striving to raise the profile of eating disorders within the student nursing population. This is being achieved in a number of ways, through direct lecturing at universities or providing local virtual spoke training sessions around ED recognition, treatment and understanding its complexities. Broadly speaking the learning opportunities are being well received and it is hoped we can stimulate some interest in pursuing a career in ED.
The role involves building and maintaining relationships across many different teams, often with diverse set-ups and pathways. Clear communication is key, so we have tried to build relationships based on being open and honest with all stakeholders.
We are here to provide advice and support to our colleagues, helping to develop confidence and promoting opportunities to improve practice.
