Our eating disorder service offers a range of specialist treatments and support to people with severe eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Patients have access to a broad range of treatments which is supported by a range of psychological therapies as appropriate to the service user’s needs.

We give support to people over the age of eight years old with the following eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and eating disorders not otherwise specified. As a multidisciplinary team we can give support in one-to-one sessions, group sessions, or both, depending on someone’s need. Support includes psychological approaches like psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy. We also provide practical and creative activities for someone to get involved in. When referred to us we will work with the person on a recovery programme. The recovery programme is designed with three aims in mind; to reduce eating disorder symptoms, help with physical recovery, and encourage psychological change."

Getting help early when suffering from an eating disorder is really important.

We provide a city-wide service for young people and adults (up to age 25) who need treatment and support for eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. Our specialist team of dedicated mental health professionals can help you explore your relationship with food and work with you to understand the best way to tackle your problems.

There are a number of ways to access our eating disorders service but we would encourage you to see your GP if you think you may be showing symptoms of an eating disorder. By involving your GP early on, we can all work better together to look after your mental and physical health needs. 

You can now self-refer to our service via our online portal or by calling us on 0300 300 0099. We continue to accept referrals from GPs and other professionals who may be concerned about someone. 

You can also visit Pause, our city centre drop-in service. The staff there can give you advice regarding your concerns, and support you to take the next steps.

The Eating Disorders Outpatient Therapies service in Herefordshire provides assessment and NICE guidance approved treatment to adults with a range of Eating Disorders from age 17.6. We are a community-based team dedicated to reducing the risks of Eating Disorders by working collaboratively with other mental health teams, primary care and voluntary sector organisations. Unfortunately, we're unable to accept self-referrals at this time. The Specialist Adult Eating Disorder Service works to deliver collaborative treatment to those experiencing eating disorders within North Staffordshire. The team consists of an advanced practitioner, consultant psychiatrist, senior therapists, a specialist dietician and therapists. The team offers assessment and treatment to those aged 18 and above. Treatment will be based upon an individual’s needs. Referrals to the service is via the patient’s GP. We do not accept self-referrals.

Coventry and Warwickshire Eating Disorder Service provides community treatment for people with eating disorders and has bases in Coventry and Warwick. Treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of professionals from psychiatry, psychology, nursing, dietetics, occupational therapy, social work and peer support.

Everyone referred to the service receives a comprehensive assessment to determine what matters to them and identifying their individual needs and goals. A range of therapies is available, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT-E, CBT-T & CBT-AR), psychodynamic therapy, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), specialist nursing support, dietetic advice, occupational therapy and medical monitoring.  Our services are expanding and future pathways will include: Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA) and Guided Self Help for Binge Eating Disorder.

Referrals for outpatient treatment are accepted from general practitioners and secondary care mental health professionals.
