As a partnership we have been operating since April 2020, holding weekly bed management meetings and introducing shared processes:
- A dashboard of all inpatient referrals across the region
- Discussing and jointly managing all new referrals centrally, via the single point of access mailbox
- Actively planning SEDU admissions across the region
The Collaborative formally went live from 1 April 2021 with Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) as the Lead Provider. MPFT has responsibility for commissioning, contracting, quality and performance management.
West Midlands Adult Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative is a partnership of inpatient units across the region including:
- Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust
- Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust
- The Priory Healthcare
- Elysium Healthcare
We are working regionally with our Eating Disorder Inpatients Services to manage our 50 beds collaboratively across the region through joint working as a Provider Collaborative, with the aim to treat people as close to home as possible and reduce the length of stay of patients wherever possible. We also work closely with eating disorder community teams to support people more intensively in the community (where appropriate) offer day treatment or admission to an inpatient bed where appropriate.
